My son has no other problems, but he was just Lazy!! He is seven now, but when he was 2 1/2 years old he would stand there and announce "I'm peeing" or "I'm pooping". I would ask him to try on the potty and he would refuse. We got a chart on the refrig and put a star every time he used the potty. Stars after so many could be redeemed for prizes (just dollar store toys!). This worked wonderful as he was always trying to get presents, and then after a few weeks he was in the habit and able to stay dry and clean.

Yeah I have a home daycare and I do the same thing I use a chart with stickers. When they get 5 stickers they can get a pkg of gummy bears! The kids love it!

We aren't having much luck potty training our 3 year old.  He has a lot of food allergies, which result in regular bouts of diarrhea.  Unfortunately he just doesn't know when he needs to go sometimes so we have had a lot of setbacks.  I did discover that he will make an effort to pee in the toilet if he has no clothes on.  The pooping part is still pretty far behind and he has moments where it is obvious that he "didn't see it coming".  He gets two or three jelly beans every time he goes potty in the toilet and, if he ever manages to poop in the toilet, he will get two cookies.

You may want to try having him involved and teaching a baby doll to potty train.  There is a book out their on how to potty train your child in a day.  Can it work?  Yes, I have seen it happen but it requires a lot of time and persistence.  The shortened version of the book is to get the child to feed the baby and then to have them take them to the potty. It is more effective with a doll that will drink and then pee.  This technique takes the pressure off of the child and helps to empower them.  Hope this helps!
